A photo or signature, shrunk to under 20 KB in your browser.
Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.
Quick answer
Choose the photo or signature and the tool shrinks it in your browser until it is under 20 KB. It lowers the JPEG quality first and makes the picture smaller in pixels only when it has to. Nothing is uploaded.
How to compress an image to 20 KB
- Choose the image, or drop it on the box.
- Check that the target says 20 KB, or pick another size.
- Wait for the result. It shows the new size, the pixel size and the quality used.
- Download the file and upload it to your form.
Photos and signatures at 20 KB
20 KB is 0.02 MB and 20,000 bytes, which is small. A signature on white paper is mostly empty space and compresses well, so it usually fits with little visible loss. A full-color photo has to be reduced in pixels as well as quality, so a passport-style photo at 20 KB looks softer than the same photo at 50 KB. If your form accepts it, use the 50 KB version for a sharper picture.
Sizes are measured in decimal kilobytes: 1 KB is 1,000 bytes, so a file under 20 KB also passes a check that counts 1,024 bytes per KB. For the arithmetic, see the KB to bytes converter and the KB to MB converter.
20 KB in other units
| Size | In MB | In bytes |

| 20 KB | 0.02 MB | 20,000 bytes |
| 50 KB | 0.05 MB | 50,000 bytes |
| 100 KB | 0.1 MB | 100,000 bytes |
| 200 KB | 0.2 MB | 200,000 bytes |

Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a signature to 20 KB?
Sign on plain white paper, take a straight photo in good light, crop close to the signature, then choose the file here with the target at 20 KB. The tool lowers the quality and the pixel size until the file is under 20 KB.
Signature MB to KB?
A phone photo of a signature is often 1 to 3 MB, which is 1,000 to 3,000 KB. To get it under a KB limit, compress it here rather than converting units. To convert the number itself, use the MB to KB converter.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. The image is processed in your browser and never sent to a server.
What if 20 KB is too small for my photo?
The tool tells you when it cannot reach the target and offers the smallest version it could make. Crop the picture to the part you need, or choose a larger target such as 50 KB if the form allows it.
